What FAAD means

Aesthetic dentistry, explained plainly

FAAD stands for Fellowship in Aesthetic and Adhesive Dentistry - a post-graduate qualification in how teeth are rebuilt to look natural. Aesthetic dentistry is simply dentistry where the shape, shade and alignment of a tooth matter as much as whether it works.

In practical terms it means a chipped front tooth is rebuilt so you cannot tell where the repair starts, a stained smile is lightened without stripping enamel, and a crown is matched to the tooth beside it rather than to a standard shade.

It is never cosmetic-only here. Decay, gum health and bite are treated first; the appearance work is done on a healthy foundation, and you see the plan and the cost before anything begins.
